a few of my favorite invitations that i'm considering for Annabelle's first birthday at my Relentless Bride Blog

1st Birthday Invitation Brainstorm

I can't believe that we are only 11 weeks out from Annabelle's first birthday.   Time flies, and flies quicker when you are having fun with a little one. Every day is an adventure and I've been thinking a lot about Annabelle's first birthday but haven't made any concrete party plans yet.

The best way for me to figure out a birthday party theme is to take a look at party invitations.  Invitations are the first glimpse your guests get, so its an important part of the party planning.  For me, it just helps me gather ideas and from there, I let that brainstorming unfold into party details.

One of my favorite sites I used for wedding related parties is Wedding Paper Divas. We used them for my bridal shower and engagement party, and absolutely loved their designs and the quality. So naturally, as I am delving into Annabelle's birthday invitations, I go to their sister site Tiny Prints.

Annabelle was born the year of the Rabbit. So a rabbit theme is an easy one that can be used for her party.

However, I wanted to think outside the box a little but had no idea how, so i simply clicked "1st birthday invitations" and I uncovered so many invitations that would allow party details to still be flexible but start to mold the the ideas and theme of the party.

Here are a few of my favorite.

I love the idea of displaying her monthly photos...
Photo Year Begonia
I love the monthly idea, but another great idea for a multiple photo invitation is one that highlights some big moments.

Sweet Moments
Another great idea for her 1st birthday is the Dol invitation. In Korea, the first birthday is called the dohl/dol and it is a very big celebration.  We are having two parties - one in California Dohl Style and a more casual one in DC.  This invitation could just be perfect for the California party.
Darling Dol
I really like the design of the next few... they are just aesthetically pleasing and leave room to elaborate on party details at the event.
Early Elegance
Stacked by One Bloom
And one of my other ideas I had thought about was using one of my favorite patterns - Chevron - and using that as part of the party details.
Rainbow Waves
So far this is where my brainstorming has taken me. I have too many options!!!  I have found one too many pretty invitations I want to use, so now I will have to narrow it down.  What to do for Annabelle's first birthday invitation? I think I'll have to take a few days to really look over the ideas that i've found here and see which invitation will suit our party(s) best :)

Which one of these adorable invitations were your favorite?

Standing alone

Today Annabelle climbed up on me and pulled herself to standing. She had a stuffed toy in each hand. She proceeded to let go and balanced unassisted for close to ten full seconds on her own.

I wanted to film it or photograph it but of course I couldn't move... But you shoulda seen my grin

Instead I'll share pics of our little one today .... Just hanging out

Surviving Hurricane Sandy

Annabelle survived her first Hurricane... we didn't go anywhere for two days, but we've seen the damage that Sandy has done to our friends and family in neighboring states... we are so grateful that Annabelle didn't even realize anything was amiss outside.

We had a few playdates with some of the other kids in our condo building - a definite perk to living in a condo and she was able to enjoy some serious play time :)
Hope y'all are safe and recovering from the destruction that Sandy left in her wake...

Halloween Party

This evening was Annabelle's first Halloween party! We got dressed up as a family (which did take some convincing but bc Daddy is a rockstar and totally awesome, he agreed) and enjoyed some Halloween fun with our neighbors.

Here are a few photos from our evening !

Halloween Story Time

Happy Halloween! Ok, well not quite yet but Annabelle still got to participate in some Halloween fun wearin her snazzy outfit that my parents got her for Halloween Story time and trick or treating!

She was adorable and had a great time even though she was overdue a nap.

The event started with a few stories by the lovely librarian Ms. Mary, who we try to see every Friday for storytime. Then It was followed with some trick or treating fun through the library :)

Here are a few pics of us enjoying the event !

Where's Daddy?

Our little girl is so adorably cute. Now when I say "dada" or "daddy" she will look towards Larry. If he's not home yet, she will look towards the front door.

We tried "where's daddy?" and "where's Kota?" and "where's umma?" and she got the first two figured out but not the umma/mommy figured out :-(

Guess I need to start talking in the third person more!

Boo boo

Annabelle got a boo boo caused by all her mobility. It's the first of many I'm sure but still sad to see

She does look pretty tough though...a little gangsta!

Stand tall

And she did for the first time today pulling herself up using the couch. I snapped a few blurry and over exposed shots from my phone but since she did it twice, I couldn't get her to do it again for a photo op.

I am so proud of this little girl but also sad at how quickly all this development is happening.

Oh yea, and guess which mom didn't realize Annabelle actually cut her side tooth AND her front left tooth too? Yup! Me. Annabelle has FOUR top teeth coming in. Side. Opposite front. Other side. Other opposite front.

Cut another tooth

Annabelle cut another tooth over night. Her top front left tooth finally cut between the side left and front right! :) that's three in 2 weeks or so.

Still has the runny nose and diarrhea that goes along with teething ... And extreme fussiness but I'm hoping that ends soon! :)

Dadada

Guess who started saying "da da da da"... once to Dada but we don't think she meant it. So we are waiting to see when she says it for real.... I guess i may have lost this battle... but i have not lost the war!!!

Doidy Cup

Using the Doidy cup, Annabelle uses a drinking cup like a big girl... we got the drinking part down, not to get the part of what happens to contents in said cup and said cup after she drinks from it down :)

Where's Kota

Every morning when we exit the bedroom, I ask Annabelle "where's Kota?"  She now looks around the room, locates him with her eyes and then uses her hand to point at him!!!

Maybe she is a genius like her Habee keeps saying she is!!!

For me to poop on

Daddy got pooped on hilarious!

Seriously, hilarious.

After swim class, Daddy volunteered to wash Annabelle down before her nap. He was sitting in the tub with her when I heard this familiar noise. From the kitchen, I yell "Did Annabelle Just poop?" and i was met with silence.  I run into the bathroom only to see the hubby with this confused disgusted look on his face and Annabelle still beet red as she was still going.  It was by far the most hilarious thing I have seen in a long time. I immediately fell to the ground laughing.

Once she was done doing the deed, she started to chuckle... it was hilarious. I wish i had photographed that image - although it is burnt into my mind forever!!!

9 months old

Dearest Annabelle, Today you are 9 months old!
Where has the time gone? I can't believe how quickly the time goes... i say it every month, and each following month seems to go by quicker and quicker.

You are growing at exponential speed.  While you are thinning out and all that fabulous pudge that I love about you is disappearing, you are growing in other areas mentally, emotionally and physically.  This month has been so much fun full of celebrations and family and activities.

Your hair is growing a bit longer, but that cowlick is still there and controls the direction to where your hair grows. There is the occasional curl here or there, I wonder if you will have Daddy's hair or mommy's straight hair - and i'm inclined to think you may have a bit of a curl.

Your eyes are still a beautiful gray/greenish color and i've been told can change to brown as late as one year.  While it would be cool if your eyes maintained this beautiful unique color, I know no matter the color they will be so very beautiful.

You now have FOUR teeth that have cut the gums. Your bottom two and your top center right and your top side left are coming out.  The top side left cut before your front center tooth - very odd but not completely abnormal.  You have had a runny nose off and on for the past two weeks and I believe it coincides with your teething. While the other top front left has not cut yet, I believe it will any day now. You constantly have a finger in your mouth, you are drooling with a runny nose and occasionally pretty fussy.

You are still wearing your size 3 diapers but we will probably be changing you into 4 months soon.  You are mostly in 12 month clothes but you also wear 18 month clothes as well. Your footsie pj's are 18 months since the length is better for your legs and some of the other clothes you wear is also 18 months.  It's unbelievable how long you are getting.

At your pediatrician's 9 month visit, you weighed 22lbs and 12 ounces.  You were 28.75 inches long and your head was 17.5 inches.  In all, 95%ile in weight; 90%ile in height; 50%ile for head circumference.

Your appointment was dreadful as it landed right during nap time and you hated being put on your back. In fact you hate this anywhere outside of home, and at home you merely tolerate it.  You cried through most of the appointment, even when you weren't being examined.  The shot and blood draw were just as bad.  My poor baby had splotches all over her face from all her crying. Thank GOD its overwith.

You are still doing baby naps throughout the day - mostly 45 minutes with the occasional long nap in between.

Your Swim, Yoga, and Music Classes are all going well and you are having so much fun.  In music class, you started to actually use the instruments for music and not just as lollipops :)  In Yoga, you will do some of the moves at home - mostly Half moon.  In Swim, you hate being put on your back but you love being in the water.  You have been dunked for the first time in swim too!

Kota is starting to warm up to you but he's still very tentative.  He fears the ear and tail pulling but is slowly getting used to the idea of you. It probably helps that you eat and he gets a lot of your leftovers.  :)

Speaking of food, you are pretty much eating everything we are eating - just minus the salt or sauces or spices. Noodles, breads (limited for both), meats, veggies and fruits. We try to give you mostly veggies and fruits, then meats, and then the carbs... you love your meats!

You have such a happy and curious personality. You love to get into everything and you are so curious to see what is going on around you. You are all smiles at people and aside from a little separation anxiety, you are happy as a bug.  You are crawling everywhere and trying to pull yourself up on things. You constantly want to know what every sound or noise is and you want to go where the action is.  You are sweet but a bit temperamental at times too. I guess you get that from mommy. :)

Here are some of the things you did this month!

Kisses
First National's Game
Fun at the Playground

You are definitely your own independent person, and its been a blessing for us to get to know who you are.  Each month gets more exciting and while its bittersweet that we can't freeze time during these wonderful precious moments, we are excited for what is to come.

Love you so much,

Your Daddy and Mommy

Shopping basket

Our little girl is all grown up... sitting in the shopping basket on our trip to Costco for the first time... she dug it for a little bit but definitely wanted to be in the carrier after a little while...

Doesn't she look like a big girl?

Grandparents visit

So my parents came for a visit this month :) Of course it was a wonderful time, even though we have very small quarters... overly cozy, shall we say? But Annabelle loved every second of it.

We celebrated my father's birthday and Korean Thanksgiving and just spent some quality time together.

Here are a few photos from the visit!
